What is a petpet GIF?

Petpet, also known as "pet the" GIFs, is a meme where a hand rapidly pats an image while the image squashes and stretches. If you know the classic petpet generator, this does a similar job, with a hand we drew ourselves and controls for strength, speed and size.

Using a petpet GIF as a chat emoji

Chat apps usually limit emoji file size. Start with 128×128 and a transparent background. If the file is still too large, use a simpler picture with fewer colors, because detail is what makes GIFs heavy.

FAQ

How do I make a petpet GIF?
Add a picture above, set the strength and speed, and choose Download GIF. The GIF is created immediately on your device.
Is it free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many GIFs you make, because all the work happens on your own device.
Does my photo get uploaded?
No. The GIF is drawn and encoded by your browser, so your image is never sent to our servers. If you accepted analytics, we only record that a GIF was made, not the image.
Can I use a picture of a person or a character?
The tool works with any image, but only use pictures you have the right to use, and do not use it to harass anyone.
